10 Reasons Why Friends SHOULDN'T Do A Reunion

1. Problematic?

It’s everyone’s favourite buzzword, but is there any weight in the allegation that Friends might be problematic? Ever since the show was uploaded onto Netflix, it garnered a whole new generation of viewers that have been very critical of the show’s themes. Friends’ treatment of LGBTQ+ issues, such as stories revolving around Carol and Susan or Chandler's Dad, have undeniably aged very poorly.

While it’s clear the writing wasn’t intended to be malicious or act as a slight on any minority group, you can’t help but notice that they frequently use, for example, being gay as a punchline.

Of course, the show doesn’t exist to serve as a vehicle to champion social or political issues, but it was remiss to not at least feature more representation past a few fleeting minority groups appearing as lazy tokenism. Surely a reunion would just act as a stark reminder of this fact?
