5. Stay Close (2022)
Netflix has quite a good selection of thriller limited series, a number of which I would recommend in a heartbeat (The Stranger, Safe, The Chestnut Man, and so on), but in order to keep a bit of diversity in this list I’ll stick to one.
Stay Close is the most recent big addition to this selection, earning a hell of a lot of attention in its first few weeks as audiences eagerly dived into its twisted story. Based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name, it tells the tale of a sweet suburban mother with a dark past. When a man goes missing, her past comes back to haunt her and things start unravelling as more people get sucked into the mess that is her second identity.
It’s a British series and as such stars a number of famous faces in the British drama scene, including James Nesbitt, Jo Joyner, Richard Armitage and, weirdly enough, Eddie Izzard. A number of bizarre secondary characters and unexpected twists keep us on our toes, and once you’ve got into the flow of the mystery you’ll really struggle to turn it off.
