10 Robin Williams TV Appearances You Must Watch

1. Inside The Actors Studio

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJAbr5SZcsQ For the uninitiated, Inside the Actors Studio is essentially a long-form chat show wherein James Lipton interviews an actor, director, or the like about their work and process. It was established as not only a television show, but also as a lecture series for the students of the famed Actors Studio Drama School -- Lipton is the former Dean of the academic program. In 2001, Dean Lipton sat down with the one and only Robin Williams for what came to be arguably the greatest episode of the series. As a matter of fact, it was voted as such by viewers of the show. Further, the Robin Williams episode was the first to run two hours in length -- until that time, episodes were only one hour. Robin spent a great deal of the two hour broadcast riffing, joking, impersonating, and just entertaining. The students at the Actors Studio were given a free comedy showcase and lesson in all that is funny. It took nearly six minutes for Lipton to ask the first question as Robin was on fire right out of the gate. Later, using just a simple piece of cloth, Williams went off on a four-plus minute riff, channeling various improvised characters along the way. It€™s possibly the best example of Robin€™s genius as a comedian. Following the program€™s traditional structure -- or what was left of it after Robin burned it to the ground -- James Lipton concluded with a questionnaire adopted from his mentor, Bernard Pivot. As usual, the survey ended with, €œIf heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?€ Robin responded honestly, yet humorously € https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz-K74MG6RU Well, if Heaven does exist, surely everyone there is laughing -- and hopefully, Robin Williams is at peace.
