The return of Jurassic Park?? Fall has it all.

The summer of 2020 was an appropriately unique one given the year we've had so far. Coming and going in what certainly felt like the blink of an eye, many of us spent it losing ourselves in realities that were marginally stranger than ours right now. And there ain't no worlds stranger than those across science fiction.

Yes, the sci-fi genre gave us a much-needed dose of escapism as the likes of The Umbrella Academy, Brave New World and DC's Legends of Tomorrow kept us entertained over the past couple of months. But with all of those shows having completed their current runs, we now set our sights on what the fall and winter months have to offer (or at the very least, recent shows that just became available).

Normally, a list like this would be full of sci-fi gems ready to kick off their latest seasons, but with everything happening in the world right now, many of those gems won't be returning until 2021.

Fear not, futuristic fanatics, as there are a number of shows - new, returning and rerunning - that you can and must lose yourself in between now and Christmas.

10. The Boys

The Boys pulled something of an unorthodox twist earlier this summer when its showrunner announced that it had already been renewed for a third season before its second hit screens. If we can take anything away from that, it's certainly an indication of how popular the show is - something that was also made clear when its first season surpassed Amazon Prime's viewing expectations in a matter of days.

If you're not aware, the show is set in an alternate world where the superheroes are merely actors hired by powerful corporations to do their bidding. In reality, they're pretty despicable and this sparks a rebellion from a group of vigilantes who rise up and attempt to root out the corruption by challenging these so-called heroes.

Taking a bold - and at times hard-to-watch - approach, The Boys is loyal to its graphic source material and that may make it an acquired taste, but its unapologetic nature has made it stand out in an overpopulated environment of comic book programming.

The second season was initially expected to arrive this summer, but recent announcements confirm we can expect it in the first week of September instead.

With that in mind, you can always was binge the first season while you're waiting.
