6. Ritsuko Akagi - Evangelion
Much like Winry Rockbell, Ritsuko Akagi in Evangelion was the unsung hero of her respective series.
Evangelions were created in order to battle the near unbeatable alien threats known as Angels. Without them, and the PTSD ridden child soldiers that pilot them, humanity would be defenseless. What's glossed over however is that Ritsuko is one of, if not the only, humans to defeat an Angel without the use of an Eva. Instead, it was with nothing more than a big computer and her even bigger brain.
In episode 13 an Angel known as Ireul invades NERV headquarters to destroy it from within. The Evangelions are all but powerless against it due to it being made up of a collection of microscopic organisms. All hope seems lost, until Ritsuko comes in for the win by using the power of science to force Ireul to evolve back into a harmless state.
With just a computer Ritsuko was able to literally force an immensely powerful alien being to evolve backwards. She played god against an agent of gods, and won. As the kids would say, Ritsuko is the GOAT of Evangelion.
