10 Star Trek Characters Worthy Of A Resurrection

4. Tasha Yar

Star Trek The Next Generation Tasha Yar
CBS

This is a name that often comes up on lists like wasted potential, or unfinished stories. There's a reason - Tasha's story is certainly unfinished, and full of wasted potential.

Yesterday's Enterprise gave the audience a wonderful send-off for a version of Tasha, and the introduction of Sela gave us the eventual fate of that character. But Denise Crosby's first iteration of Tasha was simply tossed aside by an oil slick, hoping to shock the audience, and instead sending her out on a sour note.

What's worse, much of her legacy is tainted with the idea that one of her biggest contributions to Star Trek history was being the woman to take Data's virginity. Hardly a legacy deserving of such an integral character of The Next Generation's first season.

Although we can't pretend that Skin Of Evil didn't happen, as it's given us great stories like Yesterday's Enterprise, Redemption, Unification, and a hilarious joke in The Spy Humongus, that doesn't mean that Tasha's story should end there. There really is so much more to do with her - we've never seen her with Ishara Yar, for example. What would that reunion look like, especially knowing Ishara betrayed her friends?

Tasha deserved better - and it's about time that was set to rights.
