10 Star Trek Movies And TV Episodes That Enhance Picard Season 2

7. Yesterday's Enterprise

All good things Star Trek The Next Generation
CBS

The more fascistic and militaristic Confederation in Q's altered reality is a more extreme version of the one depicted in the classic season 3 episode Yesterday's Enterprise. Q even quotes the episode title while taunting Picard in this season's second episode. Only Guinan is able to sense the change in realities, and as Whoopi Goldberg is back in Picard's second season, it's a perfect episode to revisit.

A temporal rift returns the long-lost Enterprise C to the universe, but in so doing shifts the fabric of reality. In this altered reality, the Federation has been at war with the Klingons for decades, and Tasha Yar is still alive. Difficult decisions are made, and Picard and Guinan have a memorable confrontation over "who decides which timeline is the right one?"

Guinan and Picard have already had a more friendly confrontation in the season 2 premiere, as she chides him for not allowing himself to love. As Picard and his crew are now in 2024 looking for a "Watcher" to give them an insight into Q's meddling, all signs point to Guinan. The evidence is all there in Yesterday's Enterprise.
