The project that ultimately became the TV Movie went through many different phases. At one stage of development, the story would have rebooted the continuity of the series entirely. Cardinal Borusa, the Doctor€™s €œgrandfather€, was to have been a major character. The favorite for the role was Peter O€™Toole who expressed interest in the project before it was revamped. While you won€™t find a single Doctor Who fan who thinks a complete reboot was a good idea, O€™Toole would have brought a measure of prestige to the proceedings. He certainly has the gravitas to play a central figure in Time Lord society.
