2. Walt Poisons Brock Season 4, Episode 13 Face Off
Each season, the creators of the show pushed the envelope of likability for its anti-hero Walter White. In the first season, Walt poisons one man and strangles another, but under the justifiable guise of self-defense. In the second, he watches a woman die in front of him and does nothing to stop it, but he never lays a hand on her himself. Season 3 viewers watched as he murders a man in cold blood, but the man was a drug dealer who murdered a child. And Season 4 sees Walt crossing a line no viewer could have expected. He himself poisons a child. Up until the last shot, the last half of the season finale actually has an air of triumph about it. Walt finally bests Gus, in spectacular fashion! Walt frees Jesse! Jesse and Walt burn down Gus super lab, their prison for a majority of the season, and they do it together! Brock will survive! Even Walt's conversation with a terrified Skylar, in which he declares, I won, feels like a moment of arrogant but earned closure. Its about as warm and fuzzy as an episode of Breaking Bad can be, until that final shot The image of the Lily of the Valley in the Whites backyard stunned audiences. The slight implication of Walts involvement in Brocks poisoning existed previously, but seemed more conspiratorial than plausible. To confirm for audiences their worst fears about Walt were true offered a brief glimpse of what was to come. And only Breaking Bad could elicit gasps from a slow pan to a potted plant.
He writes half-baked novels and twitter fiction. He makes short films for contests. He plays mostly unheard music. He painted something once, and it was... okay.
