10 Surprising Twist Endings (In TV Shows You Wouldn’t Expect)
4. South Park - Scott Tenorman
Few would've thought that a bunch of cardboard cutouts resembling four school kids would evolve into an Emmy-winning comedy classic that's spanned 23 seasons. Throughout its run, South Park has delighted children and horrified parents/teachers around the world. One of the most horrifying episodes being season five's Scott Tenorman Must Die.
The episode sees Cartman (the most obnoxious of the four school kids) repeatedly stymied in his attempts to get revenge on Scott Tenorman, a snarky ninth-grader who'd embarrassed him. It turns out that Cartman had actually orchestrated an elaborate revenge plan, the success of which is revealed at the very end. To put it succinctly: It involves Tenorman’s parents being shot dead and Tenorman, unknowingly, eating their flesh.
Why it's surprising: The genius-level evil displayed in Cartman's revenge was not something people would've expected from a show that just five years ago consisted of little more than aliens and fart jokes. It was a checkpoint in the show's journey from one of the most juvenile things on TV to one of the smartest.
