Its a fable thats whispered from teenager to teenager in school canteens and common rooms up and down the country. While the name varies according to region and culture, the aim is the same: to make it feel like someone else is doing it. This, as Im sure you know, is the simple but potentially dangerous process whereby one sits on ones arm until it goes numb, thus removing all feeling. Dangerous because of the long-term muscle damage, but more dangerous because of the immobility that makes it impossible to switch off a laptop beaming pornography into your bedroom before your mum walks through the door.
