10 Things We Need In Stranger Things 3

2. More Of The Upside Down/Mind Flayer

Despite it being a central plot point in both seasons of the show thus far, the Upside Down is still largely a mystery. It's a nega-version of the universe that is home to all variety of monsters reminiscent of D&D, but why?

What happened in the Upside Down before Eleven opened up the portal in Hawkins Lab? Are there other portals across the world? Does anything other than freaky-looking monsters live there?

All of these questions and more remain unanswered and it would be great to see this plot point explored in depth in season three. Season two made it clear that the Mind Flayer served as a leader-of-sorts to the Upside Down, so exploring its role there would seem like a logical starting point for revealing more about the mysterious dimension. The Flayer spent season two very interested in acquiring Will Byers but ended the season seeming a great deal more interested in Eleven. It would also serve the show greatly to venture beyond Hawkins and show how (if at all) the Upside Down affects other parts of the world.

Season three needs to start adding a bit more depth to the show's portrayal of the Upside Down and the creatures that inhabit it, lest they risk reducing their core concept into nothing more than a plot device.
