10 Things You Didn't Know About Archer
5. Cheryl Was Only Supposed to Be In the Pilot
The initial idea was a running gag in which Archer would keep impregnating all of Malory's secretaries, and then wipes their memory and just leaves them on the steps of Bellevue Hospital without any sort of ID.
Cheryl was only supposed to be the first girl in that long line, but when Judy Greer was cast, plans were changed. She impressed so much that the character of Cheryl (or is it Carol?) was fleshed out and became a mainstay in the show.
While it's fun to imagine Malory having to employ a new secretary every week because Sterling isn't able to keep it in his pants, we're glad that things turned out the way they did. Can you imagine how different the show would be without Cheryl?
Her off-the-wall persona creates interesting dynamics with the show's other characters and you can always count on her to say the most random, unhinged things possible. But then again, maybe if Archer had wiped her memory and dumped her at the hospital, she would finally be able to get away from her neurotic, alcoholic, narcissistic, quasi-incestuous, megalomaniac family.
