5. He Spent Time With A Blind Consultant So That He Could Mimic The Eye Movements Of A Sightless Person
Cox quickly realised as soon as he accepted the role of playing the blind character of Matt Murdock that he had a problem - he did know how sightless people moved, how they get got dressed, or where their eyes would look at different times. In fact, having tried to act out some of the scenes on set, Cox explained: "I put on a shirt but I can't look where the buttons are, because Daredevil wouldn't know where the buttons are, but I also can't fumble." Accepting that it was going to be one of the most-difficult roles he had ever attempted to portray, Cox endeavoured to learn as much as he possibly could about blindness and how blind people move, act and perform certain tasks. Calling upon the services of a blind consultant, Cox watched their every movement - including how their eyes scanned the room at different times - and even filmed their actions so he could replay it over and over until he got it right. Cox also performed some actions blindfolded, as well as having specially-made contact lenses produced that would blind him so he couldn't just be his normal fully-visually-able self. Talking of his time on set, Cox said: "I had to be conscious all the time of where my eyes were looking, and what they were doing and how they'd look, making sure I wasn't looking at something before I picked it up, or turning my head to look at things."
