7. Jimmy Olsen's In The Supporting Cast

Supergirl is going to be set in the fictional National City as opposed to the fictional Metropolis, where the Man Of Steel and his cohorts live and work but part of the premise of the show is that Kara's employers at a company from CatCo has poached some Daily Planet staff. Namely, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, previously staff photographer for the newspaper Clark Kent and Lois Lane both work at. In these case he's been hired by Kara's superior, media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant, to be her new art director. And it's a Jimmy Olsen you've not seen before. Not only because he's not shown up in the Man Of Steel universe of movies yet (rumours suggest Argo's Scoot McNairy might play that role in Batman V Superman), but because this Jimmy Olsen is black. The role in Supergirl will be played by Mehcad Brooks, who you might know from True Blood or Desperate Housewives. Apparently he's Kara's love interest here.
