10 Things You Need To Know About The Supergirl TV Show

6. Ally McBeal's In It, Too

That aforementioned Cat Grant of CatCo isn't just the occasional supporting character who will be giving Kara a hard time for bunking off work for her secret agent/Supergirl gig. You'd assume not, anyway, since apparently Ms Danvers is Grant's personal assistant, and because her boss is being played by Calista Flockhart. Yes, Ally McBeal is in this show, which is weird. Flockhart made her name in the quirky mid-nineties law drama/sitcom, but she's since built a name for herself as a serious dramatic player in TV series like Brothers & Sisters and a turn as a mob boss in Full Circle. Don't expect the Supergirl show to skimp on her appearances here as a result. Especially because of who she's playing. Cat Grant was only introduced in the Superman comics in the eighties, but since then she's appeared in tonnes of issues, as well as the Lois & Clark TV show, Superman: The Animated Series, Smallville and Young Justice. She served for a while as a gossip columnist at the Daily Planet and a rival for Superman's affections, making for a fun love triangle with Lois.
