10 Times Doctor Who Jumped The Shark (And Nuked The Fridge)

5. Nudity For The Sake Of It

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw5WUq3G2Ik A typical decision for desperate programme makers is to have the cast suddenly strip off for no good reason. With The Time of the Doctor, Steven Moffat showed he was not above such a sad move. But, keen to be seen as different, Moffat had Matt Smith be the one to strip down. Yes, there was an in-story reason for the nudity but the reason was merely justification for wanting to have Smith in his birthday suit - it contributed nothing to the plot. Fans watching this 2013 Christmas Special with members of the "not-we" were hideously embarrassed. The not-we were simply puzzled by the plainly ludicrous decision. The later scenes with a bald-headed and no-eyebrows Smith were even more off putting. Regardless of the true motives for these creative calls, many viewers saw these acts as nothing more than a pathetic cry for attention. It was even more sad that Smith was required to do this in his regeneration story, somewhat marring his exit from the series.
