10 Times Doctor Who Jumped The Shark (And Nuked The Fridge)

4. Super Fast Cybermen

Series 7 had another bizarre gimmick and this time it was courtesy of the Cybermen. Their return in Nightmare in Silver revealed that these upgraded models could move at super speed. New abilities for the silver giants are expected with each appearance but this choice blatantly didn't work on screen and should have been avoided at all costs. The simple fact is, the same plot requirements could have been achieved by having the Cybermen run quite fast - like people do. Yes, traditional Cybermen are v-e-r-y slow but having running Cybermen would be enough of a change. The bizarre semi-blurred zoom where they shift position without moving their legs just looks daft. It seems Moffat agreed with many of the tut-tutting viewers, too. The Cybermen promptly lost this ability upon their next appearance. Of course, they could suddenly fly in Death in Heaven, which plenty of fans were equally annoyed by.
