Speaking of "shocking" - now we come to the 150th episode of the series. This was a turning point in the show. Sadly, that turning point led straight down. "Brian & Stewie" is without question one of the worst episodes of the series. Why? It tried to shock. It somewhat succeeded - if you think "shocking" means going for the gross-out. As comedy, however, it failed. Miserably. In case you haven't seen it, forgot, or just plain suppressed the memory: "Brian & Stewie" is the episode where the eponymous characters of the episode title wind up locked in a bank vault. There's no music, no cutaway gags, and no other characters for the bulk of the episode. Just the two mains, locked in a bank vault. And at some point, Stewie has to poop his diapers. Then he winds up getting Brian to eat it. It's drawn out. It's tedious. The bank vault, and the idea of a straight-up, focused, dialogue based episode with Stewie and Brian - those were good ideas. The execution? Damn, Family Guy. You blew it! (Say those words as if they were "Damn nature, you scary!").
