10 Times Larry David Went Too Far On Curb Your Enthusiasm
4. Disrespecting The Dead #2
Another run in with Funkhouser, again involving the death of a parent. When Marty’s mother passes away in a road accident (leaving the 60 year old Funkhouser a self proclaimed orphan), a tribute is created at the spot of the incident, with flowers left by mourners.
Through a typically convoluted sequence of events, Larry is in need of a bouquet of flowers to placate a stranger he has aggravated, but the florist is unwilling to accept a $50 bill given to him by a mid-jog Funkhouser. So, Larry does what any of us might consider doing in this instance.
He drives past the memorial to the late Mrs Funkhouser, and steals a bouquet. For the time being, the plan works seamlessly - so much so that he decides to do so again, stealing further flowers for Cheryl.
Larry seems to have no issue with this whatsoever, even trying to argue the toss when an understandably irate Funkhouser turns up to remonstrate with him. Indeed, he seems downright puzzled that anyone could take exception, given the surplus of flowers at the site.
