10 Times Larry David Went Too Far On Curb Your Enthusiasm

3. Not Appreciating The Arts

Larry’s relationship with the Greene family is a tricky one. While Jeff is his best pal and manager, Susie tolerates Larry at best and often openly despises him, and later series show that daughter Sammy is going the same way as her mother.

In season seven’s “The Hot Towel”, after Larry gets involved with a taken woman, he hides out at the Greenes’ house, who put him up for the night. He’s woken in the morning by Sammy singing at top volume in her bedroom.

Never a man to stay quiet when something displeases him, Larry immediately and repeatedly yells at Sammy to “shut the f___ up”, until the upset teen runs for her mother in floods of tears. Unsurprisingly, this doesn’t sit well with the Greene matriarch, and Larry is chased from the premises.

This is a rare example of immediate justice for Larry, whose improprieties are usually left to simmer, his comeuppance arriving only at the end of the episode. Also notable is the fact that he’s objectively in the wrong here - while Sammy’s singing was lousy, that’s just bad guest behaviour.
