10 Times The Lucifer Show Referenced The Comics (And 10 Ways It Totally Ignored Them)

The second major arc of the comics kicks off with Mazikeen paying a visit to her estranged siblings - the offspring of the first woman, Lilith, and through trial by combat, Maze earns the position of War Leader of the Lilim in Exile.

While the show never gives us any moments as badass as Mazikeen drinking a chalice of poison only to regurgitate it in her enemy's face after defeating him (while blindfolded, with one hand tied behind her back) it does include a few references to her origins and family.

The estranged half-sibling Mazikeen had to defeat, while handicapped, in order to earn her position as the Lilim's war leader was named Gaudium, and there's one brief and subtle reference to him in the show.

When Cain, AKA Pierce, opens his file cabinet at the end of the third season's Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith, we can clearly see five folders, labeled Lucifer Morningstar, Mazikeen of the Lilim, Amenadiel/Dr. Canaan, Charlotte Richards, and Gaudium.

There was also one scene in which Maze supposedly speaks to Linda in her native Lilim tongue, but since she was actually just speaking Afrikaans, and attempting to pass the South African language off as an inhuman dialect, this scene just reads as lazy and kind of racist, more than as a fun comic reference.
