10 TV Characters Who Deserved Better

2. Laurel Lance - Arrow

Oh Laurel Lance, how we miss you. Arrow's resident Black Canary had one of the finest examples of character development in recent television history - and that's really saying something considering this is a CW series we're talking about here.

Initially, the idea of Starling City's District Attorney becoming a crime fighter was preposterous, but a series of struggles - including a powerful bout with alcoholism - pushed Laurel to the edge.

However, some of the character's wonderful development was halted when the writers began devoting too much time to supporting character Felicity, which resulted in Laurel playing a much smaller role in a series she once helped lead.

Unfortunately, things got much worse as the series progressed, and all of the excellent plotting - and character development - was squandered when showrunner Mark Guggenheim made the baffling decision to kill the iconic comic book character off.

It was a poor end for Arrow's unsung hero, and it understandably rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way, which is why it didn't take long for the producers to try and rectify their mistake, by bringing in an Earth-2 version of the character. Unfortunately, not even this was capable of fixing the mess the show had made for itself. Laurel Lance deserved so much better.
