10 TV Deleted Scenes That Would Have Improved Their Shows
3. Walt's History Lesson - Breaking Bad
In one of Breaking Bad's greatest episodes, Season 5's Freight Train, Walter White originally gave his accomplices Todd and Jesse a history lesson right before they robbed the methylamine-loaded locomotive, but it didn't make it into the final cut.
In the deleted scene, Heisenberg explains how he couldn't sleep the previous evening and spent the night researching great train robberies, bringing his companions up to speed on everyone from Jesse James to Bruce Reynolds.
The point of this little pep talk? To underline the fact that Walt's operation is bigger than every one of history's previous great train robberies COMBINED. This scene really puts the scope and scale of what the gang pulled off into perspective.
Freight Train is an expertly-paced episode, but this additional sequence wouldn't have compromised that. If nothing else, it would only have made Heisenberg's meticulous operation more epic by adding historical context.
