6. J.D. Leaves Sacred Heart - Scrubs

It always felt like Scrubs' natural end-point would see J.D. (Zach Braff) finally leave Sacred Heart Hospital for greener pastures, and the season eight finale "My Finale" largely seemed to pay off that idea.

The episode gives both J.D. and audiences a tremendous sense of closure as he says goodbye to his colleagues and envisions his future with Elliot (Sarah Chalke).

And though the episode was indeed filmed as the final-ever Scrubs, NBC subsequently insisted upon an additional ninth season which focused on a younger cast of interns with sporadic appearances by the original leads.

As such, J.D. returned for six more appearances, rather undermining the sanctity and dramatic impact of his departure the season prior, while making it impossible for audiences to warm to the new cast members.

Like most fans, you're better off just pretending season nine never happened, honestly.
