10 TV Posters You Won't Believe

8. "VILF" - True Blood

True Blood isn't a show that ever shied away from controversy throughout its run, continually pushing the boundaries of what artists could get away with on TV, and that also transpired through to its marketing.

This poster for the HBO vampire series' third season simply featured the word "VILF" - as in, "Vampire I'd like to f**k," on a sheer red backdrop with nothing else but the show's name and the date of the season premiere.

The most basic expectation of TV marketing is that you take advantage of your recognisable names and faces to help sell the brand, yet this ad took a radical tack by eschewing that entirely in favour of going directly for the fanbase's jugular.

As easy as it is to groan at the low-effort minimalism of it all - which someone probably got paid incredibly handsomely to come up with - it's effective enough in its bluntness, ensuring even those with no knowledge of the show will likely want to know a little more.
