10 TV Show Moments That Aren't What They Seem

1. Things Weren't As Dark As You Thought - House Of The Dragon

On top of being stuffed with more fire-breathing beasts than ever before - oh, and a lot more dragons, too - one of the key elements of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon that fans were quick to point out was the show's consistent habit of getting a little dark.

And (SPOILERS!) your writer isn't just talking about children stabbing each other's eyes out and a tragic amount of childbirth-induced deaths.

Away from the storyline dives into the darkness, a lot of the tense scenarios fans see much of the Targaryen drama and chaos going down in take place at night time... or so it may seem.

In reality, the likes of the Driftmark episode in Season One in particular were actually captured on film during the day and altered in post-production, leading to a rather odd looking grey colouring at times and some fans even complaining about the episode itself being borderline unwatchable due to its lighting choices.

Whether due to wanting to keep costs down a touch, with shooting "day for night" being somewhat cheaper than the real deal, or because of showrunner Miguel Sapochnik's hatred of night shoots post-GOT The Long Night episode, the decision was made to steer clear of a legit night shoot in the end.

And that likely explains why things felt a little off visually during an otherwise stellar episode of television.
