10 TV Show Spin-Offs That Are Practically Flawless

6. Maude

Better Call Saul Gus Fring
CBS

From: All In The Family.

Conceived by the great Norman Lear after Bea Arthur's all-too-brief guest spot on All In The Family, Maude is often considered to be TV's first feminist series, ably tackling lofty social issues with rapid-fire humour and thoughtfulness to spare.

Like All In The Family, Maude proved to be far ahead of its time, speaking to large social upheaval and society's flaws with insight that feels timely even today. The icing on the cake came from Bea Arthur herself, who captured Maude's ferocity and personal heartache with unrivalled comedic timing.

Maude covered everything from gender and racial inequality, healthcare, abortion, addiction, and grief, and did so with a skip in its step and a joke for every occasion. Norman Lear, never one to shy from such heavy issues, has even proclaimed Maude to be his favourite character, which should tell you all you need to know.
