10 TV Shows Already Cancelled In 2020 (And Why)
9. Messiah
Netflix’s crime mystery Messiah was cursed from the outset, with a premise which was a veritably powder keg of potential controversy. Essentially Homeland if the series starred the reincarnated Christ rather than a deserting soldier, this Netflix production made the demented decision to set its action largely in Syria and used the continuing bloody struggle for Palestinian liberation as the backdrop for a messy mixture of conspiracy thriller and metaphysical mystery.
Not to mention the fact that the show’s eponymous Messiah had a name which in Arabic translates to “deceiver” and is the moniker of an Islamic demon—which seems like a bit of an obvious spoiler from the jump. Maybe they forgot people can speak Arabic?
