10 TV Shows Coming To STAR On Disney+

5. Family Guy

With the obvious exception of The Simpsons, Family Guy stakes a fair claim to being one of the most important - and consistently funny - animated shows ever made. Watching Seth MacFarlane's creation evolve over its 20-year stretch is fascinating - an echo of what increasingly is and is not commonplace in comedy (something the show itself has openly addressed).

The show is unashamedly derivative of Matt Groening's crowning glory, but then at least half of all American animated shows today are.

What Family Guy has consistently done however is manipulate this formula to lewd, eye-opening and increasingly satiric effect. The adventures of Peter, Lois, and their family is one full of chaotic adventures, several quality characters (Mayor West being the highlight, voiced by the late Adam West) and storylines that consistently poke fun at the unsavoury underbelly of 21st century USA. Worth a special mention are the show's loyal, funny and inventive takes on the original Star Wars trilogy.

Simple in its concept, increasingly imaginative in its execution, Family Guy marks another dramatic departure in target audience for Disney - another example of how STAR's content should appeal to whole new audiences.
