2. How I Met Your Mother

Although it arguably petered out on something of a bum note, How I Met Your Mother remains one of the more consistently funny sitcoms regularly repeated on daytime TV. And for good reason. The nine-season chronicle of how Ted (Josh Radnor) met the mother of his children is told with drama, great comedy and a stellar cast that also features Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and - perhaps most memorably - Neil Patrick Harris.

While the opening seasons are good, the quality really reveals itself in leaps and bounds the further in to the show you get. It manages to become funnier, slicker and at times even profound as the episodes tick by, and was rewarded with an impressive 30 Emmy nominations (winning ten).

Less well remembered however is the grand finale at the end of season nine, accused of being anti-climactic and rushed by those who had held on until the end to see what happens.

Nevertheless, the show rode a wave of sizeable viewing figures to get as far in as nine full seasons, and its positive elements by far outshine the negative. Its inclusion on STAR can serve as a reminder of the show as its wonderful best.
