6. Hannibal

The first season of Hannibal aired last year and it became an almost instant hit. Hannibal is a prequel to the books by Thomas Harris and explores the early relationship between Hannibal Lecter and his patient Will Graham. Alongside its ingenious writing, the show has some incredibly contemporary visual effects which bring justice to and provide a fresh, reinvention of the original stories. Mads Mikkelsen brings a modern, icy take on the character of Dr Hannibal Lecter and his performance is nothing short of spectacular... and scary! Hugh Dancy is the psychotically troubled Will Graham who gains a trust for Hannibal, to which Hannibal uses to his own personal advantage. The show's acting, script and visual effects are what separates it from the classic Hannibal movies, as its uniqueness in narrating the stories makes it a modern masterpiece in its own right. The show provides themes on the basis of deception, psychology, murder and gore. It's great.
