10 TV Shows To Fill That Game Of Thrones Shaped Void
6. House Of Cards
A David Fincher produced TV drama starring Kevin Spacey was always going to be worth watching, but it's unlikely that anyone could have predicted how good House Of Cards would actually be. A remake of an 80's English TV show of the same name, this House Of Cards revolves around US Senator Frank Underwood as he seeks to rise to the top of the political ladder by any means necessary. Whether its blackmail, extortion or even murder - Frank Underwood is a character that will do anything to get what he wants, and Spacey makes him an anti hero that you love to root for - even when he's very clearly on the wrong side of the moral compass. Kevin Spacey is in his element here, showcasing possibly the finest acting of his career. His menacingly smug narrations to the audience become stand out moments, and when combined with the show's fantastically written dialogue and brilliant supporting cast, what could have been a dull political drama becomes absolutely gripping television. While initially quite slow, this Netflix original drama is most definitely a show worth sticking with. It may not be the most action packed series on television, but the slow buildups give way to TV that packs an almighty punch. Highly recommended.
