Created by Alec Berg and star Bill Hader, Barry was released with minimal fanfare to become one of the most popular comedies currently airing. Like Succession, it's three seasons in as of this writing, and has yet to drop the ball.
Starring Hader as a depressed and disillusioned hitman who hopes to leave his criminal past behind for life as an actor, the increasingly dark comedy is riotously funny and surprisingly violent, but every year since its debut has proven to be more poignant and intelligent than meets the eye.
Blending its ridiculous premise with a great collection of never-better actors, the series started life as a slick, fun comedy, but has since morphed into an assured dramedy with intelligence and heart that always strikes the right note.
