On 8 September 2022, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom died at the age of 96. The Queen reigned for a record-setting 70 years, ascending to the throne in 1952 at the age of just 25.
After her death, many questions were raised about the future of the monarchy and the country as a whole, but a fair few people were also wondering - what's going to happen to The Crown?
The show, which centres on Queen Elizabeth II and her tumultuous life and reign, was in the middle of filming for its fifth and penultimate season when the real-life monarch passed away.
As a result, the show's creator, Peter Morgan, stated that filming would likely pause as a sign of respect. Now though, the show is set to make its return to Netflix on 9 November.
With the narrative getting closer to the present day and strongly focusing on Princess Diana, the show will have to be very careful about how they portray one of the darkest periods of the late Queen's life.
Regardless of how this season turns out, The Crown will be a fascinating watch as art and life come together in the most unexpected of ways.
