10 TV Shows That Are Somehow 10 Years Old

5. My Name Is Earl

List-based comedy My Name Is Earl actually pre-dates Buzzfeed by one calendar year. Before people viewed life through a hilarious numeric system, Jason Lee was playing Earl Hickey - a small-time criminal who fully bought into the idea of karma by listing all his wrongs and attempted to make them right. My Name Is Earl proved to be an early success for NBC and did a lot to help bring back the 70s porntache at a time when men were all about the clean-cut look, but sadly after four seasons and 96 bucket list ticks it was canned as neither NBC, Fox, TBS or TNT could agree on the production of a fifth season. The big challenge was how they could ever follow the series to its natural conclusion by completing the list itself. With 277 good deeds to do even over ten seasons the show producers would have to write 27 major storylines per season and with six seasons still outstanding it was easier to pluck a much cheaper show off the shelf... ... Which they did with a small show called Community. Unofficially, My Name Is Earl fans got closure during Greg Garcia's followup series Raising Hope but they remain hopeful Earl, Randy and Joy will return for one last outing.
