This American TV series is an adaptation of the 2010 Australian film of the same name. It starred Ellen Barkin for the first four seasons as Smurf, the Matriarch of the Cody criminal gang. In January 2021, it was announced that it would end after its sixth season.

The fifth season is being told in both present-day and flashback, which allows for the character of Smurf to continue on, despite her fate in the fourth series. Her story ended with what was supposed to be a suicide mission becoming a mercy killing.

Ellen Barkin has been one of the consistently highest-rated actors on the show, while Young Smurf is played by Leila George in season four. The fifth season has begun airing, dealing with the fallout of the clan now being without a leader. The cast and crew were informed back in November that the sixth season would be the final one, although no plot details have been revealed at this time.
