10 TV Shows That Led To Other TV Shows Being Cancelled (And Why)
7. Everyone Forgot Jersey Shore—Which Killed Made In Jersey
This one has got to sting, since the show which led to
Made in Jersey’s cancellation not only inspired this humdrum legal drama, but actually
managed to outlive it as well.
In the heady olden days of 2009-2011, the Internet was ablaze with Jersey Shore memes. The MTV pseudo-reality series followed the exploits of Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D, and other forgettable self-described “guidos and guidettes”, young party-crazed New Jersey residents whose antics seemed designed to give the state a bad name.
The series was a huge hit, and predictably lead to the creation of this legal dramedy wherein a young New Jersey lawyer moved to the swankier environs of New York and attempted to fit in despite her humble origins. However, by the time Made in Jersey actually aired, Jersey Shore’s moment in the pop culture zeitgeist was at an end, and the MTV series waning ratings saw it cancelled shortly before the series which was attempting to counteract its depiction of New Jersey-ites suffered the same fate.
What’s worse, Jersey Shore was revived a few years later—a fate unlikely to ever occur for Made In Jersey any time soon.
