10 TV Shows That Led To Other TV Shows Being Cancelled (And Why)
4. CSI's Ratings Spelled An Early End For Eleventh Hour
Produced by uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and adapted from a British series of the same name, Eleventh Hour was a procedural mystery which saw A Knightâs Tale villain Rufus Sewell star as a scientist called in by the FBI to explain any phenomena which stump their standard agents and intel.
Despite not featuring any explicitly supernatural or sci-fi elements the well-received show garnered comparisons to The X-Files, thanks in no small part to the chemistry between the brilliant but troubled scientist and his special agent handler, played by scream queen Marley Shelton of Planet Terror and Scre4m fame.
However despite promising reviews and a solid showing with audiences, Eleventh Hour made the regrettable mistake of being aired after CSI, a ratings Goliath to which almost no show could compare. As a result, numbers which would have been impressive for any other series paled in comparison to the forensic franchise, and the show was cancelled after a single season.
