10 TV Shows That Made You Answer Impossible Questions

7. Pushing Daisies - What If You Could Raise The Dead (With A Catch)?

This little-seen but much-loved cult curio was cancelled after only two seasons, though fortunately this blow hasn’t stopped series creator Bryan Fuller from moving onto bigger things such as the critically acclaimed Hannibal and ambitious Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods.

Despite being a light-hearted mystery series with a sweet romantic core, the very premise of Pushing Daisies proposed a difficult moral conundrum which fans of the show still struggle with, as it combined supernatural magic with difficult real-life consequences.

You see, protagonist Ned is a pretty unassuming guy (and exceptional pie maker), with one odd skill. He can bring the dead back to life via touch—but only for a minute, otherwise another person will die to take their place. Oh, and if he touches them a second time, they’re dead for good.

This is a pretty complicated place to inhabit as a hero, but it’s made more complex when Ned’s childhood sweetheart is murdered, meaning he ends up inadvertently offing a funeral home director when he revives her, and can never touch her again. It’s a bittersweet idea which still leaves audiences wondering how they’d handle the moral and practical implications of this curse/ superpower, long after the show wrapped up its brief run.
