The Larry Sanders Show was the programme that breathed life into HBO in the early and mid-nineties before they found success with Oz, The Sopranos and Sex and the City. Without a doubt one of the best and most original sitcoms ever created, it has spurned numerous imitators such as 30 Rock and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, though neither came close to matching the hilarity of The Larry Sanders Show. The Larry Sanders Show can also be seen as the forefather for hit shows such as Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development. The show had a bite to it that is mostly missing from current comedy as it is a fearless show that helped HBO develop a reputation for creating great original content.
