10 TV Shows Totally In Denial About Being Over

6. Saturday Night Live

Created by Lorne Michaels back in 1975, Saturday Night Live is the oldest series on this list, having just kicked off its forty-seventh season, and is perhaps the one that needs put to bed most of all.

Known for kicking off the careers of countless prominent actors and comedians over the years - amongst them Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, John Belushi and many, many more - the show was once lauded for its scathing social satire and inventive skits, but has over the years lost much of its spark.

With more recent seasons relying too heavily on mocking politicians and bringing back former stars as a ratings stunt, much of the show's humour has fallen by the wayside lately, and it seems the writers are struggling to find a way to stay relevant or find anything of note to say.

It's not all bad - Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson continue to shine - but there's no doubt SNL is far from what it used to be, and could probably do with calling it quits before it becomes too much of a running joke.
