10 TV Shows You Didn't Realise You Were Following The Villain

The Shield creator Kurt Sutter followed up his subversive cop drama The Shield with the similarly provocative Sons of Anarchy, which charted biker protagonist Jackson "Jax" Teller's (Charlie Hunnam) descent from a more ambiguous anti-hero into an out-and-out villain.

Though in earlier seasons it's clear that Jax wishes to take SAMCRO in a less violent and corrupt direction, by the show's fourth season it's clear that Jax is propelled on an irredeemable villain spiral.

Once it's all said and done, Jax has several-dozen deaths to his name, some of which were arguably if not indisputably unearned - Unser, never forget (Dayton Callie) - made a litany of awful decisions motivated by blood-boiling anger, and ultimately just followed in his own father's ill-fated footsteps.

Were there more contemptible characters on the show? Absolutely, but to look at where Jax went from first episode to last is to observe a man who was transformed from potential saviour to reckless monster.
