10 Underrated Current Crime TV Shows You Need To Be Watching

With this dark crime show, comedy straight-man, Jason Bateman, takes strides to move away from his typecast image. He plays a wealthy accountant given the option of laundering 5 million in drug money within two weeks or have him and his family on the receiving end of a bullet.

Certainly, the premise of the milquetoast male turning to a life of crime feels very Breaking Bad on the page (as is the unconventional casting of its lead). But once you get past the synopsis, comparisons don’t really rear their head, with its muted colour palette and clinical approach to genre tropes, resulting in a much different show from Walter White’s morality tale.

Much of this due to Bateman, not only impressive as the lead but as an integrated creative force as well, with him acting as a producer and director as well. He’s accompanied by a fantastic supporting cast with Julie Garner, as a vicious redneck waif, being the stand-out.

The climax of the season certainly changes things up in shocking ways, with the second season an enticing concept. Ignore the Breaking Bad comparisons and gives this fantastic Netflix show a watch, you’ll be gripped almost immediately.
