10 Upcoming New Comic Book TV Shows To Be Excited About
3. Green Arrow And The Canaries
The Arrowverse has seen its fair share of spinoffs since its inception way back in 2012, but the thing that makes Green Arrow and The Canaries different is that its set to be a direct spinoff of Arrow - the show that started it all.
With the originator of the Arrowverse officially off our screens, the attention now shifts to the daughter of Oliver Queen - Mia Queen - and two of his most trusted allies, the Black Canaries Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake - who will band together to protect the Star City of the future when crime threatens to disrupt two decades of peace.
Frustratingly, this one hasn't been officially greenlit yet (in spite of the fact that that the backdoor pilot received acclaim from critics and brought in season-high viewing figures), but The CW is clearly planning something because they haven't let it go either. And with that, the working theory is that some variation of it is expected to be commissioned for the 2021 - 2022 season instead.
With a unique premise and promising cast (which includes Arrow's own leading lady Katie Cassidy), Green Arrow and The Canaries has the potential to be the best superhero show on TV today. And given that there's clearly a demand for it, it would be ridiculous not to give it the green light.
