The world of The Walking Dead continues to grow as The Walking Dead: World Beyond will now follow on from both the original show and Fear The Walking Dead in expanding that post-apocalyptic world, well, beyond really.

Taking something of a more scientific approach in the beginning, the show is set a decade after the Rick Grimes' legendary escapades at the start of the rising and looks at how the world has started to rebuild itself from within the walls of a fully functioning high school/lab/complex/home for the next generation of humanity. And as these teenagers come of age, they realise that they want their lives to mean something and, as you do, head out into the big bad walker-infested world.

There's definitely more of a YA vibe about this one, but the fact that it's set in The Walking Dead universe certainly sets it apart from other attempts in the genre. While the characters certainly appear engaging, the most interesting thing about it is undoubtedly the organization that pulled the remnants of humanity out of the apocalypse and helped it rebuild itself. So it appears that it will provide us with answers to some of the long-running mysteries of the universe.

With a limited two-season run already planned, it was expected to debut in April but AMC recently delayed it until later in the year. But, honestly, after the decline of Fear, this writer is more than happy to wait for it. We need a new Walking Dead spin-off that actually makes sense.
