Being superheroes, they end up racing so fast that they shatter the space time continuum and end up 50 years in the future, where in their absence the lovely little town has been ravaged by the villainous efforts of Him and is now a terrifying red-hued hellscape.

What's more spirit-crushing: watching all of the zombified townspeople circling the Powerpuff Girls, chanting that it's all their fault, or the aged Professor working tirelessly in his lab, trying to recreate the exact cocktail of chemicals that created the Powerpuff Girls, haunted by his failures and chasing off the girls who he believes to be a cruel hallucination?
