10 Urgent Remedies Needed For Doctor Who

2. Kill Off A Companion

Doctor Who Spyfall Part 2

The biggest mistake that was made for the current season was the decision to have three companions. The story of Graham O'Brien and Ryan Sinclair as a Stepfather-Grandson combo mourning the loss of a loved one may not have been executed to perfection, and Tosin Cole's acting has been mediocre at best, but it is a sound story arc that has just needed more time to be explored.

Unfortunately the decision to bring on board a third companion, Yasmin Khan, has been a bit of a flop. This is of no fault of Mandip Gill, the talented actress portraying probationary officer Yas, but the writers just haven't been able to give her character enough depth when there are so many other character arcs to address.

The time to 'kill off' one of the characters now must come, allowing adequate time for each of the companions to breath. Bradley Walsh is a national treasure as Graham so he should be safe (but that would make his absence even more surprising), which leaves Yas or Ryan.

While Yas may seem the logical one to go considering her lack of character development, Ryan's death may prove more worthwhile, adding some much needed tension to the dynamic within the TARDIS. Having Ryan die due to a risky mission at the Doctor's behest, and then seeing the companions' reactions, would be drama at its finest.
