10 US Office Episodes Every Dwight Schrute Fan Should (Re-)Watch

3. Dwight K Schrute, (Acting) Manager (Season 7, Episode 24)

Dwight Schrute The Office
NBC

This season 7 episode sees Dwight’s lifelong dream of becoming the regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch realised… and then swiftly taken from him. Dwight takes up the role as acting manager after Jim turns down the offer from CEO Jo Bennett, prompting Pam to echo what the audience are thinking… ‘What have you done?’

Under Dwight’s new regime, employees must each use their own unique 21-digit codes if they want to use the photocopier, all time wasting websites are blocked by a firewall and people are at the mercy of his ‘pre-firing’ tendencies. Dwight outfits the space with portraits of himself and furnishes his own office with items including a piranha tank, a replica desk based on the one used by Uday Hussain and a Beaumont-Adams revolver. This latter addition would prove to be his downfall. Showing off his new holster from his great-uncle Honk, Dwight argues with his subordinates about whether or not he should be carrying the Beaumont-Adams freely around the office.

Proving their point, Dwight accidentally discharges the weapon, leading to Jo Bennett immediately demoting him, but not before the office have their fun with blackmailing him into doing what they want. This episode is everything a Schrute fan could ever want from Dwight finally becoming the manager at Dunder Mifflin.
