There are so many iconic elements and moments that make up the ridiculous appeal and popularity of Friends, and one such small piece of the puzzle is Smelly Cat.

A song from Phoebe Buffay, Smelly Cat is a tune that so many people have found themselves singing to themselves over the years, with it easily the most famous song of Phoebe's musical career - beating out competition from the likes of The Cow in the Meadow, Little Black Curly Hair, Sticky Shoes, Crusty Old Man, Little Fetus, and They Found Their Bodies.

If it wasn't for a tipsy twist of fate, though, Friends would never have featured the song which put a smile on the face of so many.

Smelly Cat wasn't a creation of Friends' writers. It wasn't some tune drummed up by the series' music department. No, it was in fact written by a drunk Lisa Kudrow.

After her and a friend had drank a little too much one night, Kudrow and her buddy ended up writing Smelly Cat - and the tune would eventually be brought into Friends to become a staple of Phoebe's character.

As it happens though, Lisa Kudrow absolutely hates the guitar, and has reportedly never touched one since her time on Friends came to an end.
